Nice sentiment and symbolic biblical imagery here. I like the way the teacher chooses to distract the kids, and in doing so she can focus on distracting herself also. Formatting is a bit off but easy
to read. You effortlessly get across that these kids have been abandoned (either by choice or not, it doesn’t matter) and the teacher chooses to stay with them. You do this without saying anything –
expertly done.
